Even though it only lasted an hour, the bush flight that brought Brian, Janet, and I back to civilization was easily one of the most memorable parts of this Alaskan adventure and I have plenty of photos and movies to prove it. The flight took off from the small airstrip in Dry Bay next to the fish cannery, then turned up river retracing our rafting route. The views of Alsek Lake, Mt Fairweather, and Walker Glacier were beyond words, but I think the photos do some justice! Shortly after passing the confluence of the Alsek and Tatshenshini Rivers, we headed south along the Tkope River valley which led us into the the heart of the icefields that feed the many glaciers of Glacier Bay National Park, and finally back to our sleepy basecamp village, Haines.
