Memories of Ginger (2/3)

June 26, 1991 - August 31, 2002

Photos of Ginger this past year that help tell her story.
If you have any photos you'd like me to add, please send them to me. Thanks.

I learned of Ginger's cancer in early June. Deeply saddened by this and wanting to live together as much as possible in the remaining time, that night we hiked Green Mountain once again, for the last time. Although she had already started to become weak, she hiked the entire West Ridge herself- a most amazing accomplishment!

The following evening, we grilled out and Ginger got to eat all the chicken she wanted! I spoiled her as much as I could with food, but more on that later...

Ginger loved camping and everything about it. She loved the fresh air, clear streams, new smells, and sleeping outside. During this camping trip in early June, she was hanging out in the nearby creek, came back up into camp all wet, and then proceeded to roll her face around in the charcoal ashes! Her face was covered in black and although this picture doesn't show it well, it was such a funny experience that I had to tell it.

Another picture of Ginger in the car during that trip. I just can't say enough how much she loved to go for a ride.

Ginger got to share the back seat with Jason Masek during that trip. By the end, they were both exhausted and she decided it was the perfect time to make a new friend!

The day before Amanda and I were scheduled to go rafting on the Snake River, the veterinarian told me that Ginger could pass away at any time. This was horrible news for me, especially since I was planning to have someone watch her while we were gone. After much debate, I decided to bring Ginger rafting down the Class IV river with us for the week! It was one of the best decision I have ever made. We had a fantastic time! Here we are above Shoshone Falls on the Snake.
